James has combined scoring orchestral music for Film, TV and Commercials, with writing orchestral classical works for 38 years. He sees composing and orchestration as a craft which benefits from experience, and which continually grows and matures through time.

After working initially for some years in Italy, he founded and ran his own Music Production Company in Bristol until 2003, when the company was bought and taken over by Faber Music.

Since then he has worked as a freelance composer and has composed and produced numerous soundtracks for world-known brands and organisations such as the BBC, National Geographic, Aardman Animations, PBS Nature, The Mill London, Johnnie Walker, AT&T, Oxfam and many more.
